Warranty and Authenticity
CITIZEN SOUTH AFRICA – 5 YEAR WARRANTY POLICY
When you purchase a Citizen Eco-Drive watch from an authorised retailer in South Africa, you benefit from:
- 3-Year International Warranty (valid worldwide)
- +2-Year Extended Warranty (valid only in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific)
That gives you 5 years of total protection from the date of purchase, provided your warranty card is correctly completed and stamped by the authorised retailer.
WHAT THE WARRANTY COVERS
Your Citizen watch is covered against defects in materials and workmanship. If a problem arises that is covered under warranty, Citizen will:
- Repair or replace faulty parts at no cost (excluding shipping if applicable)
- Use only genuine Citizen components
- Carry out repairs through authorised service centres only
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
The warranty does not cover the following:
- Damage due to accidents, misuse, or tampering
- Wear and tear on the case, strap, glass, or crown
- Damage from water if the watch is not water-resistant or was not sealed correctly
- Battery replacements
- Power cell issues due to neglect (e.g. failing to recharge or use properly)
- Repairs done by non-authorised service providers
- Cosmetic changes over time (discolouration, fading, etc.)
HOW TO CLAIM WARRANTY IN SOUTH AFRICA
To ensure smooth servicing:
- Keep your warranty card safe – it must be stamped by the retailer and filled in completely.

- Drop off or courier your watch, along with the warranty card and proof of purchase.
- Repairs usually take 6 to 8 weeks, depending on parts availability.
Note: Postage and insurance costs to the service centre are the owner's responsibility.
